Work Environment
Johns Manville seeks to enhance your everyday work experience and contribute to your quality of life outside of work. Our paid-time-off (PTO) programs are designed to provide you with balance between your personal and professional lives. Additionally, our work environment fosters the development of meaningful relationships between supervisors and employees, and between co-workers, provides outreach opportunities to volunteer and be involved in the community and offers employees the chance to be engaged in building a great company.
Time Away from Work Overview
Vacation: You are eligible for paid vacation time, based on your length of service with JM. For U.S. employees, on January 1 of the year you complete 5, 15, 20 and 30 years of service, you are eligible for additional weeks of vacation. For Canadian employees, on January 1 of the year you complete 3, 10, 20, 25 and 30 years of service, you are eligible for additional weeks of vacation.
Holidays: Holiday schedules vary by location and include designated as well as floating holidays. Please contact your HR&C representative for additional information.
Leave of Absence: There are times when it may be necessary to take a leave of absence from work. In the U.S. the Johns Manville Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Policy is based on the requirements of the federal FMLA and the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) (for our California locations). Under FLMA and CFRA, eligible employees are entitled to unpaid leave for qualifying reasons. Additionally, employees may be eligible for bereavement leave, jury duty and military leave. For more information, please visit JMDirect under the My Life / Time Away from Work section. For our Canadian employees, please check with your HR department to see what benefits apply.
Employee Assistance Program
The majority of JM's U.S. and Canadian locations offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). EAPs offer services that range from helping you find local childcare to helping manage stress, balance your budget or obtain legal advice. Their services are free of charge to employees and their families.
Below you will find a link to the list of the various EAP providers at each location. Most of the Web sites will require a user ID and password for access. Please contact your local HR representative for specific information, including passwords and any other questions you may have about the EAP program at your location. Not all locations have EAP programs at this time.
Employee Engagement
JM's employee engagement cycle focuses initially on the survey conducted each spring. However, it's the communication of the survey results, and more importantly, the employee-driven action plans, that are key to the success of the engagement process.
"Employees are driving the effort to make a difference in their facilities around the world. It's what we do with the survey results that really counts," said Steve Hochhauser, JM CEO.
Teams of JMers around the world are using the results of the annual JM Employee Engagement Survey to make our company better and deliver a positive JM Experience to customers and co-workers. Responses to the 19-question survey are helping the company shine the spotlight on opportunities to improve the JM Experience for employees and ultimately drive increased performance. One of the most important parts of the process is to unearth opportunities and focus teams of employees on creating solutions for the areas they deem most important.
"I'd like to thank every employee who participates in the survey and encourage every JMer to 'get engaged' in making the JM Experience real," Hochhauser said.
